Hi, I'm Tony. I built this platform from a Korean homeowner's point of view.
I studied architecture at Georgia Tech and worked at a luxury hotel design firm in Atlanta. I also run a digital marketing company, West Mountain Media. After living in the US for almost 20 years, I watched my parents, first-generation immigrants, struggle with home maintenance. That’s why I started Korean Home Service.
- Architecture degree from Georgia Tech, with real knowledge of building structure and materials
- Founder of West Mountain Media, specializing in local SEO and AI marketing
- 1.5-generation Korean-American, living in the US for about 20 years
It started with my parents' experience
Korean Home Service started in 2025. The reason is simple. After my parents bought their first home in the US, I watched them struggle with home maintenance.
My parents were first-generation immigrants who weren’t comfortable with English, and it was their first time owning a home in the US. American homes are different from homes in Korea. They had no way of knowing which parts break down over time, how often to inspect them, or how much repairs cost.
Not knowing left them anxious, and they had no sense of what things should cost. And when something went wrong, a leaking roof or a broken AC unit, calling a company in English, getting quotes, comparing them, and signing a contract was a huge burden.
They wanted to find a Korean-speaking contractor, but that wasn’t easy either. Most Korean home service businesses are focused on running their shop and do little to no digital marketing. So they don’t show up in search results. Search in Korean, and there’s barely any information on these businesses. Search in English, and Korean-owned businesses don’t show up at all.
But here’s what caught my attention. The Korean-owned businesses I worked with directly charged more reasonable prices than American companies, and did more careful work. I don’t know why, but that’s what I saw firsthand.
Big jobs like roofing were an even bigger problem. Quotes run into the tens of thousands of dollars, and there’s no way to check if the work was done right. You can’t climb up on the roof yourself, and you can’t ask detailed questions in Korean.
There are a lot of Korean homeowners across the US, and they’re likely facing the same problem. Someone needed to step up and solve it. That someone was me.
Why I'm the right person for this
Architecture degree from Georgia Tech
I earned a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. I spent 5 years at one of the top schools in the country studying building design, structure, materials, and building systems. Beyond design alone, I built a real foundation in roof structures, exterior materials, insulation, and drainage systems.
Worked at a luxury hotel design firm in Atlanta
After graduating, I spent about 3 years at an Atlanta architecture firm that specialized in luxury hotel design. I worked on new-build projects for major US hotel chains like Hilton and Marriott. Large-scale projects like hotels demand the strictest standards for roofing, insulation, leak prevention, and structural stability.
Founded West Mountain Media
West Mountain Media (thewestmountainmedia.com) is the digital marketing company I founded. It’s a local SEO firm built for US home service businesses (roofing, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, landscaping, and more). That experience is the operating foundation behind KHS.
1.5-generation Korean-American, living in the US for about 20 years
I was born in Korea and immigrated to the US, where I’ve lived for almost 20 years. I understand both Korean and American culture on a deep level. I know what Korean homeowners worry about, what language feels familiar to them, and how they make decisions, not from theory, but from real experience.
Platform founder & operations lead
Right now, I personally handle every part of Korean Home Service:
- Contractor verification (I personally run license, insurance, and reference checks)
- Writing and managing Korean-language content
- Platform technical operations (working with the West Mountain Media team)
- Quality control on homeowner-to-contractor matches
- Coordinating Korean-language support for insurance claim cases
💡 As the platform grows, I plan to gradually bring on Korean-speaking staff. For now, I personally review every match to guarantee the highest quality.
